My name
is Barbara Worth and I am proud to say that I served as an educator for the Coweta County School System for 16 years before
deciding to stay at home to raise my 5-year-old son. I hold a Master’s Degree in Special Education. I also
have an add-on degree in Library Media and Technology. I am certified in the state of Georgia to teach children in grades
K-12. I also tutor students who struggle in the areas of reading and language arts.
While teaching I served on many committees and was honored with several awards. I was Evans
Middle School’s teacher of the year and an Atlanta Journal-Constitution Honor Teacher nominee. I was the chairperson
of Evans Middle School’s leadership committee.
Serving
on the “Very Special Arts Program” committee for Coweta County is a career highlight. This program is devoted
to enriching the lives of special needs students through the arts. This program allowed children to express their unique
abilities and talents through art, dance and song.
I was also
selected to be on the advisory board for Scholastic’s “Action Magazine.” I helped create hands-on
learning material for the magazine, and also helped with selecting literature and generating high interest ideas.
I am excited to instruct this year’s Happy Hands participants. I
view each child as a “blank canvas,” and I cannot wait to create and explore the world of art and literature with
each of them!
